Your Skin's Natural Acid Mantle

Your skin has a natural acid mantle. As reported in Dermatology 1995; 191: 276-280, in 1892, Heuss proposed that the entire body surface is acidic. It was found that the skin’s natural acid mantle is 5.5 pH.

In 1952 Dr. med. Heinz Maurer, discovered at the Dermatological Clinic of the University of Bonn, that the skin's slightly acidic surface protects against injurious environment influences, dehydration, germs, bacteria, etc., with its protective acid mantle. Likewise, Laura Stokowski, RN, in the article Neo-Natal Skin: Back to Nature, stated that this acid mantle is "beneficial for anti-microbial defense by inhibiting the growth of pathogenic bacteria."

However, Dr. H.C. Korting of Munich, Germany, as mentioned in Clinics in Dermatology 1996; 14: 23-27, among other experts, found, that many of the skin care products we use and that we use on our children are much too alkaline for good skin health.

Through an electrolysis process using a 40 year-old Japanese technology, 5.5 pH acidic water can be produced at home. This pH water leaves hair soft and manageable without conditioners, tones the skin and tightens pores, and encourages good skin health naturally.

Commenting on acidic water, Dr. Kokichi Hanaoka, visiting Professor, Texas University School of Medicine, Health Science Center, stated, “Low pH acidic water is considered to play an important role in maintaining healthy skin. For example, improving the ‘barrier function’ of the skin by means of astriction allows us to expect healthier skin conditions. More academic research in the field of dermatology will hopefully be conducted in the future.”

What's in Your Skin Products?

Your skin is the largest organ of the body. It absorbs what is put on to it, and it releases toxins. Even the ancients were aware of this transdermal process.

Because of this, we have to be very careful what personal care products we and our precious children and grandchildren use. Studies cited in the Journal of the American College of Toxicology warn that some of the substances found in skin care products are Sodium Lauryl Sulphates, known skin irritants shown to have degenerative effects on cell membranes; methyl-, propyl-, and butyl-parabens which are toxic and allergenic; and propylene glycol, an industrial anti-freeze used for moisture retention. Many of these and others are petroleum based: By-products of the oil industry!

You have to get to the point of doing the same thing with your personal care products that you do with your foods: If you can't pronounce it, if you don't absolutely know what it is or where it comes from-the source, don't use it! Remember: What is being put on the skin, gets absorbed into the body.

So when you are shopping, read the labels on your skin-care products, as carefully as on food products. You will be greatly surprised at what they contain.

More on this next time...

Stephen

Men Need to Drink Water, Too-Part 3

Part Three:

To stay hydrated, drink water. Ideally, however, your water should be alkaline and micro-clustered. You’ll hydrate more effectively if it is. Alkaline, micro-clustered/hexagonal water will reduce the amount of accumulated acidity in your muscles improving your work-out, increasing stamina and performance, and it will greatly lessen recovery time and discomfort after any strenuous activity.

Dr. Susan Lark, MD, in her book, The Chemistry of Success: Secrets of Peak Performance, says this about alkaline water, health, and performance: "The benefits of alkaline water through electrolysis far exceed just its ability to gently raise the pH of the cells and tissues of the body and to neutralize acids. Because the alkaline water has gained a significant number of free electrons through the electrolysis process, it is able to donate these electrons to active oxygen free radicals in the body, thereby becoming a super antioxidant. By donating its excess free electrons, alkaline water is able to block the oxidation of normal tissue by free oxygen radicals."

She goes on to explain micro-clustering of alkaline water and reducing the size of the molecules clusters of tap water by about 50%: "This allows ionized alkaline water to be much more readily absorbed by the body, thereby increasing the water's hydrating ability and its ability to carry its negative ions and alkalizing effect to all cells and tissues of the body... If you are overly acidic, an alkaline water device can provide a safe, gentle, and effective way of restoring the pH balance of all the cells in your body as well as providing excess free electrons to act as super antioxidants."

Everyone needs to drink plenty of healthy water for good health and longevity. With all the controversary over bottled water and their containers, experts say the possible health risks are enough to warrant reconsidering what you are drinking and to choose an alternative.

The best alternative, according to Dr. Lark and other experts, is to make purified, alkaline, micro-clustered water right from your own tap, and it is very easy to do. Fill a glass or stainless steel bottle and carry it with you to stay well hydrated throughout the day. Don't take chances with your most precious commodity; your health. And, at the same time, by eliminating plastic bottles on a daily basis, you'll help the environment, too.

To find out about an "alkaline water device" that is superior in performance and that I and my wife have benefited very much from and enjoy using, contact me. I'll be happy to tell you about it.

Have a great day & stay hydrated,

Stephen
